Arnold Glass's Doomed Airforce
At the end of the service life of the EE Lightning Arnold Glass purchased several complete airframes with the view of turning some to the air.
Unfortunately this never happened.
Some of those airframes purchased did survive the axeman. Most notably were XS542 now back in the air in South Africa and XS458 still at Cranfield and still performing re-heat runs
Others were not so lucky and were reduced to scrap with only a few cockpit sections being rescued those will appear on the Preserved section of The Lightning Files
