Leeuwarden RNLAF Open Dag, The Netherlands, 16-17/06/06

Royal Netherlands Open Dag 2006 spread over two days in June attracted visitors from far and wide.

From a very early stage a lot of people had seen the organisers attracting the Blue Angels as a major coup with this being the Angels only European airshow apprearance of 2006.

My personal opinion of the Blue Angels having seen them on both days where they did a flat display on Friday and the full display on the Saturday is they didn't live up to the hype we have all seen on TV. I would put nearly all of the European display teams ahead of the Blue Angles they just miss something.

Fat Albert was however the saving grace on both days its display was great. JATO takeoff Saturday was stunning.

Friday the weather was far from good and photography proved difficult at times with dark clouds behind and bright skys in front. Saturday was far far better and so the crowds proved.
