Tragic news received today 14/11/09
Thunder City English Electric Lightning T.5 ZU-BEX/XS451 crashed whilst displaying at Overberg Air Force Base in Bredasdorp, South Africa.
During an air display at the annual Overberg Air Force Base fly-in, the Lightning apparently suffered hydraulic problems. While burning off fuel, it crashed in a ball of flame starting a veld fire 5km north of the field. Apparently three failed attempts to eject where made. The pilot was not able to eject.
The pilot was named as Dave Stock. Macks Aviation wish to say RIP and condolences to the family and friends
Welcome to the newly revised and updated website of Macks Aviation
Due to previous work commitments the aviation photography has had to take a bit of a back seat over the last 2 years, however now back in the UK things are looking up.
The Lightning Files have continued to be updated as and when time allowed. There are now over 500 images contained there the majority kindly donated by visitors to this site.
I hope to get out and about a bit more now and have taken the opportunity to update and restyle the complete site.
Still to be added are images from 2002 and 2003 so hopefully updated will continue at a pace.
